Help the Ishaq Family Survive in Gaza
United States
I am Alaa from Gaza. I am 20 years old. I live in the Khan Yunis area. As you know, the situation in Gaza is very difficult. We are a family of 6, my mother [my father] and my three brothers. Our life is very difficult. We need you to support us and donate so that we can be safe. We need winter clothes for me and my brothers. I completed my high school studies and am trying to continue my studies at university, but I was not lucky because of the war.
I am Alaa’s friend Allie, and I am from Rhode Island in the USA. I’m 36 and have been staying in daily contact with Alaa for a year now, as we work togerher to raise life-saving funds for the Ishaq family to buy clothing, food, medical supplies, camping supplies, and other necesseties. They have been displaced from their home in Khan Yunis multiple times since October 2023. Since August 2024, we have come to know about each other’s lives and goals, our daily experiences, and difficulties. Alaa is such a sweet, caring, incredibly intelligent young man that only wants the best for his family while they endure unimaginably horrific circustances. Alaa hopes to resume his studies in computer science one day, and I will work with him and his family to help make this happen, but first they must survive the occupation. Grocery and medical supplies are so scarce (due to the seige by the occupation), and so, the few supplies that get into Gaza become extremely expensive because of the incredible need among so many innocent civilians. By managing to buy some food at very inflated prices, the Ishaq family and so many others have been able to barely survive. The price of flour has risen at least 5000% to $558/25 kg, cooking oil 1200% to $27/litre, and cooking/heating fuel at least 2400% (Time Magazine, 5/19/25). I am setting our fundraising goal to the ambitious amount of $20,000 to support six people during a time of high inflation for an extended period of months, and if any fundraising amount remains, to support the family’s recovery from such turmoil as they rebuild their lives.
I am able to collect donations to my bank account and transfer them securely to Alaa’s bank account in Palestine, and I will provide receipts of such transfers as the fundraiser progresses. Together, Alaa and I have raised at least $15,000 using another popular fundraising platform that deleted our fundraiser, and my account, abruptly and without explanation in mid-July. That is what has brought is to Chuffed, and to you, in asking for solidarity and support from regular people all over the world that want to help regular people in Palestine.
If you can donate even a small amount, one time or on a reaccuring basis, together we can help the Ishaq family afford the necessary supplies to surivive today in an occupied Gaza, and tomorrow thrive in a free and peaceful homeland, God willing. Alaa, his family, and everyone in Palestine deserve to live in peace, security, and freedom, and we so appreciate your support and care getting there.
Sincerely & with love, Allie & Alaa
It is with regret that I share news of Alaa Ishaq’s recent injury in the multiple bombings of Nasser Hospital on Monday August 25th by the IOF as they targeted journalists, itself a war crime, while also targeting a healthcare center, another war crime, without regard for any nearby civilians such as my dear friend. I am grateful to report that he is doing ok – but he will need surgery soon to remove shrapnel from his abdomen! Without immediate medical care his wounds could become infected, and he is already in much pain. The photos here show his lacerations, but cannot fully convey his situation and feelings, as he is hurting and injured internally. And they don’t begin to touch the trauma of being targeted while seeking aid.
What can we do to alleviate such suffering? Aside from holding responsible our politicians that perpetuate such crimes, we can help Alaa afford much needed medical care, as well as continuing support for the Ishaq family to afford basic necessities such as clothing and food.
Anything you are able to donate to Alaa and the Ishaq family is so appreciated, and reminds us all that we can take care of each other. Thank you.
